Dec 19, 20232025 Mercedes-AMG E 53 Is A Pricey Plug-In Hybrid With A Straight-Six | Carscoops
The E 53 Hybrid starts at $88,000 and offers up to 604 hp
The 2025 Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid will arrive at U.S. dealers shortly and the company has announced pricing will begin at $88,000 before a $1,150 destination fee. That’s $17,150 more than the E 450 4Matic, but $18,900 less than the fully electric AMG EQE.
So what does that lofty price tag get you? A high-performance plug-in hybrid that features a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, an electric motor, and a 21.2 kWh battery pack. This gives the sedan a combined output of 577 hp (430 kW / 585 PS) and 553 lb-ft (749 Nm) of torque, although Race Start mode increases the rating to 604 hp (450 kW / 612 PS).

Those are healthy numbers and they allow the all-wheel drive sports sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in as little as 3.7 seconds. Furthermore, despite the impressive performance, the E 53 Hybrid doesn’t skimp on being eco-friendly as it has an EPA electric-only range of 42 miles (68 km).
Sticking with the performance theme, the car comes standard with active rear steering and an AMG Ride Control suspension with adaptive damping. Customers can elevate the experience with an AMG Dynamic Plus package, which adds a limited-slip rear differential, dynamic engine mounts, and an increased top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h). The package also includes the aforementioned Race Start mode as well as a high-performance composite braking system, which has six-piston calipers that grab onto larger front discs measuring 15.4 inches (391 mm). Last but not least, there’s a leather and microfiber AMG Performance steering wheel.
Mercedes didn’t release a detailed equipment list, but the entry-level E 53 Hybrid has an illuminated grille, a panoramic sunroof, and a 14.4-inch infotainment system. Buyers will also find a wireless smartphone charger, augmented reality navigation, and a surround view camera.
The $90,450 Exclusive trim adds Digital Light headlights as well as heat and noise insulating glass. They’re joined by an active ambient lighting system and a Burmester 4D premium surround sound system.
That brings us to the range-topping Pinnacle trim, which starts at $92,150. It has a head-up display, a four-zone climate control system, and an MBUX Interior Assistant. Customers will also find fancier Digital Light headlights that can project images onto the ground.
Besides the aforementioned items, the E 53 Hybrid offers AMG Night, AMG Night Plus, and AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber packages. Other options include Nappa leather, performance seats, and a 12.3-inch front passenger display.
